Conflicts are Inevitable
Conflicts are a predictable fact of life in every type
of human interaction. Conflict management is, or should be, a core
leadership competency. Arrogance or ignorance of conflicting issues may encourage disputes
that can disrupt, damage and sometimes destroy teams or organizations.
Confrontations and harassment lower performance and decrease productivity.
Conflict management involves analysis, diagnosis, intervention, resolution
and prevention. These can be applied by
executives, managers and supervisors in everyday organizational situations,
consistently with a defined corporate culture,
to ensure productivity and performance.
Categories of Human Conflict
People are both social and territorial, and will seek
appropriate ways to increase advantage over other people. Expect people to
be sociable to the limits of their perceived benefits. Expect people to
become combative if they may lose control over things that they identify
with.

A systemic conflict management program can analyze these
dimensions to find the real sources of conflict in a human system. The
sources of conflict are rarely as obvious as
the manifestations of conflict - the manifestations include fights, disputes, harassment and

Unresolved conflicts cause chaos, whether inner conflict or between individuals or groups.
Worse, if hidden or repressed, conflicts will likely become stronger and
